The suicide rate remains high among veterans, with dozens taking their own lives every day.
For many, Veterans Day is a time to honor the service and sacrifice of those who served the country, but it can also bring back painful memories. Terry Prince, director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs , said it can make a difference to check in on veterans.
Prince said it’s important to communicate with veterans that “we’ve got resources to live your best life.”
It’s difficult for some veterans transitioning into civilian life.
