OIL CITY, Pa. - Drivers on Interstate 80 in Mercer County can expect an easier drive soon as construction pauses for the winter, leading to the removal of temporary lane shifts.
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) officials announced that the major reconstruction project on the first five miles of I-80 near the Ohio state line will temporarily revert to a normal traffic pattern starting this week.
Motorists should plan for these specific changes, weather permitting. The special lane pattern for eastbound I-80 traffic is scheduled to be removed on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025. Subsequently, the special lane pattern for westbound I-80 traffic is scheduled to be taken out on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025.
