A London man who was a teenager at the time that he shot a man to death in a Sarnia-area First Nation was sentenced Wednesday to the maximum seven-year youth sentence for second-degree murder.
Several people wept in a packed Sarnia courtroom last month as the mother of the late David Oliver spoke about the grief, pain and fear she’s dealt with since her son was killed five years ago in Kettle and Stony Point First Nation.

“I know I’ll never be the same as I was before David was murdered,” Carla Oliver said.
Then, she turned her attention to the man sitting in the prisoner’s box, who was only 16 when he shot her son point blank twice in the head in the summer of 2020 with no known motive.
