New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Tuesday unequivocally condemned the “heinous terror incident perpetrated by anti-national forces” near the Red Fort and directed the agencies to pursue the investigation with “utmost urgency and professionalism” so that the “perpetrators, their collaborators, and their sponsors” are identified and brought to justice without delay.

Chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who earlier in the day visited Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital to meet those injured in the car blast that took place on Monday evening, the Cabinet meeting expressed its “profound grief” over the loss of lives and observed two minutes’ silence. Later, Modi also chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS).
