BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The Bryan City Council has appointed former mayor Andrew Nelson as the new city manager, effective Monday, November 24.
Nelson, who previously served as mayor from 2016 to 2022, succeeds longtime City Manager Kean Register, who retired earlier this month.
Nelson steps into the role after leading Lisam America, Inc., where he was CEO for 15 years.
During his tenure as mayor, Nelson oversaw major city projects including the annexation of the Texas A&M RELLIS Campus, the development of Travis Bryan Midtown Park, and Legends Event Center.
Mayor Bobby Gutierrez praised Nelson’s private-sector experience, saying it will help continue Bryan’s tradition of “strategic, forward-looking decisions.”
Deputy City Manager Hugh Walker has been serving as acting city manager sinc
