A recall on baby formula has been expanded to include all types of ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula cans and Anywhere Packs. The recall comes as the Food and Drug Administration continues to investigate an ongoing outbreak of infant botulism.

Infant botulism is a rare, but potentially fatal illness that can cause serious illness in babies and infants. The illness is caused when Clostridium botulinum spores are ingested and colonize the intestinal tract, according to the FDA.

The FDA has been investigating an outbreak that started in August with 83 cases reported nationwide. Of those 83 cases, 13 of the infants consumed ByHeart formula at some point.

ByHeart initiated the recall despite none of its products having tested positive for contaminants.
