SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Another candidate has announced their intent to run for mayor of Shreveport in 2026.
On Wednesday, Nov. 12, Michael Mays announced he’ll be running for mayor, launching a campaign centered on “unity, public safety, youth opportunity, and restoring trust in local leadership.”
“I am running for mayor because I love this city,” Mays said. “I was raised here. I’ve lived the real Shreveport experience — the joy, the struggle, and the hope. Our city has extraordinary potential, but we need leadership that listens to the people, works alongside the community, and puts residents first.”
Mays says his campaign will focus on improving safety in local neighborhoods by creating strong community relationships with police, expanding mentorship and job opportunities for young
