The Northern Lights may be visible across parts of the UK tonight as a powerful solar storm hits Earth.
The Met Office issued a space weather alert on Wednesday (November 12), warning of both 'extreme' and 'severe' geomagnetic storms. In the event of a 'severe' G5 storm - the highest category on its scale - it says aurora may be seen across the whole of the UK.
The Northern Lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are likely to be visible across parts of the UK on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, the forecaster said.
It comes after the natural phenomenon dazzled skies across the UK last night, with lucky sky watchers in Scotland and parts of northern England catching a glimpse of aurora as it pierced through clouds.
Sightings are possible again toni
