The Lyon County Commission will consider the city of Emporia’s request to annex property at 800 Rd. 160 during its regular action session meeting Thursday.

The 58-acre tract of land, if approved for annexation, would be used as expansion grounds for A1 Pump and Jet Services, an Emporia-based commercial and industrial waste management business.

The Emporia City Commission has already approved the resolution of certain findings, and the Emporia Metropolitan Planning Commission has recommended an island annexation of the land.

Now, the County Commission must decide whether to approve the resolution based on whether the annexation would impede future development in the county or any other city in Lyon County.
