Here are ways to volunteer, donate during the holidays

In Monroe County, volunteers are always needed but especially during the holidays. You can start with bell ringing for the Salvation Army.

“We need volunteer bell ringers,” said Major Tracy Ruston of the Salvation Army of Monroe County in an email. “They can sign up by going to registertoring.com , put in Monroe County and a list of times and dates should pop up for them to register online.”

For the Salvation Army Toy Shop, Ruston said volunteers are needed to help with sign-up from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Nov. 19. There is a 30-minute orientation prior. Volunteers must have legible printing and cannot be receiving from the program.
