"Al-Falah" is Arabic for success, prosperity, and well-being. It was an apt name for a medical college in Faridabad. And then the November 10 Delhi blast happened.

The Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences welcomed its debut batch of aspiring doctors just six years ago in 2019. Since then, it has turned into a sprawling campus, buzzing with students, teachers, and other staff.

The founder of Al-Falah University (of which the medical college is a part) is Jawad Ahmad Siddiqui. A former lecturer, Siddiqui is now the director and founder of approximately a dozen ventures under the Al-Falah Group of Companies umbrella. Needless to say, he did well for himself. And the thousands of students studying at his university, especially the would-be doctors, thought they would too.
