BLUFFTON, Ind. (WPTA) - The Bluffton Board of Public Works and Safety has voted to fire a detective with the city’s police department after he was arrested following an alleged domestic battery incident earlier this month.
According to police, 49-year-old Clifford Thomas, who also serves as Wells County’s Coroner, was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 6, after a reported incident.
On Wednesday, Bluffton Mayor Scott Mentzer confirmed the Board of Works accepted Chief Kyle Randall’s recommendation to remove Thomas from the department during an executive session last week.
Mentzer says Thomas was dismissed due to repeated policy violations coinciding with Indiana statute IC 36-8-3-4 since August, such as:
