In a significant development for the Tata Trusts and confirming a CNBC-TV18 newsbreak , Neville Tata, son of Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata, has been appointed as a trustee of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, effective November 12.

The Trust holds a 27.98% stake in Tata Sons, making it the largest single shareholder in the conglomerate’s holding company.

Neville, 32, has been associated with Trent since 2016 and currently leads the fast-growing fashion brand Zudio.

His induction follows a recent resolution of internal tensions between Noel Tata’s camp and that of Mehli Mistry, a close associate of the late Ratan Tata.

Mistry, who was removed from key trusts, chose not to contest the decision legally.
