Sonder, the boutique hotel and apartment management company, is closing up shop and renters are being kicked out in the middle of their stay after the firm filed for bankruptcy protection this week.
On Monday, Sonder Holdings Inc. announced it is winding down operations through a Chapter 7 liquidation of its U.S. business.
The day before, hotel company Marriott International terminated its licensing agreement with Sonder signed in August 2024 after both endured difficulties integrating their booking technologies.
That deal brought in $146 million in additional liquidity for Sonder but it ultimately led to a huge drop in revenue.
Thrilled to announce Sonder's long term strategic licensing agreement with Marriott, as well as ~$146 million in additional liquidity.
