We watch a lot of live sports in our house: college football, the NFL, any tennis match and golf. For the most part, civility rules as athletes, teams and fans adhere to norms of gracious wins and losses.

So it’s with sincere disappointment that I witnessed the downright rude behavior, well beyond norm, that American fans displayed at the recent Ryder Cup on New York’s Long Island.
