ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis and St. Charles Counties now have mandatory disease testing ahead of opening weekend for gun-based deer hunting.
According to a release by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), any deer shot in both St. Louis County and St. Charles County are now required to be tested for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD). Hunters must present their deer to a CWD sampling station on the day the deer is killed, the department said.
The news comes days before the opening weekend for gun-based deer hunting in Missouri, which season is slated for November 15-25.
There are five stations across St. Louis County and St. Charles County. The stations will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
