IOWA CITY — There were many times along the way that Jan Jensen didn’t think she’d reach this National Signing Day moment — her in front of the mic raving about the latest high-profile recruit to join Iowa women’s basketball .
“When you’re recruiting one of the nation’s best,” Jensen said, “you just have to buckle in because it’s not going to be smooth sailing.”
The patience paid off for Jensen and her staff, who officially welcomed 2026 5-star prospect McKenna Woliczko to the Iowa family on Nov. 12, the first day of the women’s basketball signing period. The Hawkeyes had to hold off giants like South Carolina, USC and Ohio State to secure Woliczko's commitment, which they officially received Oct. 1 after hosting her official visit the weekend of Aug. 30.
