CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Trump administration hopes to see the life of West Virginia's coal-fired power plants extended, said U.S. Environmental Protection Administrator Lee Zeldin on Wednesday.

Zeldin, who accompanied Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and Gov. Patrick Morrisey on a tour of energy projects and sites throughout the state, said the administration wants companies to upgrade facilities to prolong operations and preserve employment.

"We want do everything in our power to help West Virginia succeed," Zeldin said.

Under the administration of President Joe Biden, numerous rules and regulations were put in place that were intended to "eliminate coal," Zeldin said.
