It didn’t take long for speculation to surface about a Bill Belichick return to the NFL after the New York Giants fired coach Brian Daboll .

But in classic Belichick form, the UNC coach didn’t entertain questions about leaving the Tar Heels if the Giants called.

“Getting ready for Wake Forest, that’s all I got this week,” Belichick told reporters on Tuesday . “I’ve been asked about (an NFL return) from time to time. Look, I’ve been down this road before. I’m focused on Wake Forest, that’s it. That’s my commitment to this team. Next week it’ll be to our next opponent and so forth. I’m here to do the best I can for this team.”

Belichick was the Giants defensive coordinator from 1985-1990 under Bill Parcells. New York won two Super Bowls during that time.
