The parents of two four-year-old twin boys were arrested last weekend after they were wounded by a handgun left underneath a couch cushion at their Florida home.
The shooting occurred on the morning of Nov. 8. NBC News reports that the children are hospitalized but in critical condition.
Keishara B. Goodrum, 39, was arrested on two counts of child neglect with great bodily harm. Maurice Wayne Bright Jr., 40, was arrested on a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Orange County police said Goodrum told them that she had been drinking alcohol the night before and put her handgun under the couch cushion in the living room and later forgot to retrieve it.
