BEAVERTON, Ore. (KPTV) - After four years of construction, the Oregon Department of Transportation has completed all major projects on Highway 217.
The OR 217 Auxiliary Lanes Project began in 2021. The $174 million project includes new auxiliary lanes between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and Highway 99W.
ODOT says the new improvements will decrease crashes by 20% to 30% and save over 73,000 hours of travel time every year.
Placed over 19,000 tons of asphalt and added five miles of new auxiliary lanes, resulting in less congestion, increased merging distance and a safer highway with fewer crashes.
Built a new southbound frontage road between Allen Boulevard and Denney Road. The new frontage road decreases highway merging, making trips safer for drivers.
