A data breach of a Hyundai-owned subsidiary could have leaked personal information for millions of Hyundai owners, according to a new report from Forbes .
In February, hackers gained access to the systems of Hyundai AutoEver America — an IT branch for Hyundai — for almost nine days, according to the report.
Investigators said that, during that time, the hackers had access to a person’s full name, Social Security number, and driver’s license information, according to the outlet.
While the company hasn’t disclosed how many customers were affected by the breach, Forbes reported that the IT subsidiary connects to 2.7 million Hyundai vehicles.
After a months-long investigation, the company will begin mailing letters to affected customers, according to Forbes.
