The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation unveiled a revamped playground featuring a dual zip line, expanded slides and outdoor fitness equipment during a Nov. 6 ribbon-cutting ceremony in Lakewood.

The $1.59 million “Slide City” playground at 659 Ocean Ave. now offers twice as many slides as its predecessor and a nearly 1,000-foot dual zip line. A large outdoor gym area provides exercise opportunities for visitors of all ages.

“Ocean County Park is one of our most loved and historic parks, and a place that families have been coming to for generations,” Ocean County Commissioner Robert S. Arace said in a written statement. “The enhancements we’re celebrating today build on that legacy, ensuring that this park continues to meet the needs of the families who use it every day.”
