President Donald Trump is once again floating the idea of a payment to the American people, suggesting $2,000 dividends could be on the way thanks to the tariffs he has placed on imports from around the globe.

After the Supreme Court heard arguments on whether Trump's tariffs are legal , the president took to his Truth Social platform to defend the way he has ratcheted up the fees paid on imports.

"People that are against Tariffs are FOOLS!" Trump wrote on Truth Social on Nov. 9 . "A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone."
