Drexel Hill, Pa -- Ten years ago, Anne Leopold started 'Emmaus Home, a nonprofit supporting adults with disabilities. Her inspiration came from her son, Kevin, who has severe autism and intellectual disabilities.
"I wanted a place that would emulate the family", she explains. The nonprofit has grown to 24 residents across four Pennsylvania counties.
Their latest venture, Bean Ability Coffee caf, is a caf where people with and without disabilities work side by side. "I always wanted something in the community where people with and without disabilities could come together and get to know each other and form relationships," says Anne, "because once high school ends, when you're have disabilities, it's very difficult to find those relationships in the community".
