Thomas Tuchel has called on his England players to take up meditation and keep wearing their new ‘mind-altering’ slippers.

The head coach is a big believer in meditating and tries to do so twice a day, when he has the time. He has now encouraged his players to try it out for themselves.

On Wednesday, players were given so-called ‘mind-altering shoes’ — a state-of-the-art pair of shoes produced by Nike, who sponsor the national team.

The shoes look a lot like ‘crocs’ or sliders but have nodules on the bottom which the clothing manufacturer claims “works by engaging the sensory areas of your brain via the thousands of mechanoreceptors underfoot”. Tuchel was informed on Tuesday that the players would be wearing them as trial to improve their focus.
