A car was ploughed into a lamp post following a police chase through north Manchester.

The Ford Fiesta crashed following the pursuit, which police said came after the driver was spotted 'travelling at high speed with no lights on'.

The driver in then said to have continued to drive a way at speed, before 'losing control' and then crashing. It's thought the vehicle had been stolen an hour earlier from a local church.

Police said a suspect was later detained and taken into custody. No details about the offences have been released by the force.
