On Wednesday, Nov. 12, Sheriff Jamie Van Voorst announced he will retire from his position, serving Sioux County.
“This was not an easy decision, because I love this profession, this office, and I love serving and protecting you,” said Sheriff Van Voorst. “I will have had the privilege of serving as your sheriff for nearly four years.”
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Facebook page , Sheriff Van Voorst entered public service in 1993 for the Sioux Center Police Department and later the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
He later served as deputy sheriff, sergeant and captain before eventually being elected as Sioux County’s 17th sheriff.
