NEW ORLEANS — A man accused of robbing a bank in Slidell last week surrendered to authorities on Wednesday following a standoff at a home in Hollygrove, officials said.
Police established a heavy presence at a home in the 4100 block of Hollygrove Street, where the suspect had barricaded himself. He left the home and surrendered to law enforcement shortly before 1 p.m.
A spokesperson for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed the man was
showed the man entering the bank, wearing a bucket hat and a COVID-style face mask, and walking with a cane and a noticeable limp. Police said he handed the teller a note, yelled that he was robbing the bank and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. Notably, he appeared to walk away from the bank without a limp.
