Consultant Chase McDowell of Alexander filed Wednesday at the state Capitol to challenge U.S. Rep. French Hill of Little Rock for the Republican nomination in Arkansas' 2nd congressional district.
McDowell's filing came on a slow final day of filing for party candidates for state and federal offices in the 2026 elections.
In the 2nd congressional district, Democratic candidates Chris Jones of Little Rock and Zack Huffman of Little Rock, as well as Hill, a Republican, filed last week to seek election next year. Hill has represented the 2nd congressional district since 2015.
The party filing period started at noon on Nov. 3 and ended at noon Wednesday. The filing period for nonpartisan judicial candidates began at 3 p.m. on Nov. 3 ends at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
