Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson says President Donald Trump’s recent pardons of 16 Michigan Republicans and others give a green light to those who seek to undermine elections.

In a Monday night interview on CNN’s “Laura Coates Live,” Benson was asked about the president’s pardons of those who allegedly attempted to overturn the 2020 election in favor of Trump.

The 16 Michigan Republicans pardoned by Trump faced prison time on accusations they acted as false electors in the 2020 presidential election . A judge dismissed charges in the case in September.

A number of others were specifically named for pardon by Trump, including his former personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, and his former White House Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows.
