WHITEHALL, MI - A nearly 100-year-old sailing school is fundraising to maintain its equipment, building and staff salaries.
The nonprofit White Lake Sailing School provides sailing classes primarily for youth, with the goal of being more accessible and affordable.
Next year will mark 100 years of the nonprofit, located at 6748 South Shore Drive in Whitehall.
“We barely scrape by year after year,” said Camden Seymour, director and sailing teacher at the school.
He said the goal is to raise at least $60,000, with a priority of purchasing new boats to replace the outdated ones and replacing aged parts where needed.
According to the Zeffy fundraiser website , 69 people have donated so far, raising $21,822.
