The Detroit Lions are getting healthy at the right time.
Defensive starters Marcus Davenport and D.J. Reed returned to practice from injured reserve Wednesday and both could return to game action later this month.
Davenport has been out since straining a pectoral muscle in a Week 2 win over the Chicago Bears , while Reed went on IR Oct. 1 with a strained hamstring.
Lions coach Dan Campbell said last week Reed was trending to return in early December .
Both Davenport and Reed are expected to play key roles down the stretch for a Lions team that's 6-3 and in contention for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Davenport, who missed most of last season with a torn triceps, had five tackles and one sack in the Lions' first two games. Reed finished October as the third-best opponent-adjusted
