A DNA test has confirmed that the man who carried out the devastating blast near Delhi’s Red Fort was Dr Umar Un Nabi — a medical professional from Kashmir whose death in the explosion had initially left investigators uncertain of his identity.
The explosion, which ripped through a busy street in front of the 17th-century monument, killed at least 12 people and injured dozens more, sending shockwaves across the country.
Investigative agencies have detained several members of Nabi’s family in Kashmir and collected DNA samples to verify his identity. Officials confirmed that the DNA from the remains found at the blast site matched samples taken from his relatives, conclusively identifying him as the bomber.
