A Grundy County deputy sustained injuries in a crash on Cummings Highway Wednesday morning, Nov. 12.

It happened right in front of the MAPCO gas station as a man in a pick-up truck turning left out of the parking lot failed to yield, according to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The deputy had his car's emergency equipment activated while he drove in the right lane.

The sheriff's office told Local 3 over the phone that he was starting his commute to Grundy County when other deputies requested his assistance over the radio.

Both cars collided, but only the deputy was injured. He had a cut above his eye.

The deputy has since been released from the hospital, the agency confirmed.

No charges are currently filed.
