The New Jersey Department of Health is warning residents about an ongoing investigation related to a multi-state botulism outbreak linked to ByHeart baby formula.
As of Tuesday, the outbreak has sickened at least 15 people in 12 states, including one hospitalization in New Jersey, according to the state health department .
“While infant botulism remains rare, it is a serious illness that requires immediate medical attention. We urge parents and caregivers to check their infant formula and stop using any product from the affected lots,” said Acting Health Commissioner Jeff Brown in a press release. “Quick recognition of symptoms and prompt treatment are key.
