Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is predicting relief just around the corner on some grocery bills.
During an interview on Fox News, Bessent said Wednesday that President Donald Trump’s administration will soon announce a plan to reduce the rising costs of certain items.
“You’re going to see some substantial announcement over the next couple of days in terms of things we don’t grow here in the United States — coffee being one of them,” Bessent said on “Fox & Friends.” “Bananas, other fruits, things like that. So that will bring the prices down very quickly.”
Bessent did not provide specific details on the looming proposal — but Trump told the network separately on Tuesday that he plans to move to reduce tariffs on coffee imports.
