ELK GROVE, Calif. —
Elk Grove residents are attempting to pump the brakes on a recently greenlit 24/7 truck fueling center.
The Elk Grove Planning Commission approved a project that would create a fueling center planned by the company Maverik on an empty lot near Grant Line Road and East Stockton Boulevard.
Even though the project was given the go-ahead, residents believe they can still stop it and have even started a petition.
Wednesday night, residents are expected to pack the Elk Grove City Council meeting to voice their concerns. Opponents argue the city still has the power to halt the project before it’s too late.
Neighbors believe that the proposed fueling center could bring more diesel trucks through neighborhoods, increase traffic and emissions, and raise public safety concern
