AUSTIN, Texas — A man is in custody after the Austin Police Department (APD) SWAT unit was deployed to an apartment complex in northwest Austin near Lakeline Boulevard on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at the Bridge at Avery Ranch apartment complex in the 9200 block of North Lake Creek Parkway. APD said the call began just after 11 a.m. as a burglary call before turning into a SWAT situation.

Police said a woman called 911 reporting her ex-boyfriend had broken into her apartment. The woman was not in the apartment at the time and saw the break-in on her security cameras, police said.

APD learned the man had an active felony warrant for family violence by strangulation against the woman.
