OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A Pontiac mother of three accused of frequently leaving her children alone in a filthy apartment without working plumbing has been arraigned on felony charges.

The woman, 31, was arraigned via Zoom on Thursday, Nov. 12, in Oakland County District Court on three counts of second-degree child abuse, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Bond was originally set at $250,000 but was quickly denied after the woman began yelling profanity at the judge and threw a chair, police said.

“It defies understanding how parents blessed with the gift of a child could show such cruelty,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “The complete lack of compassion and humanity is heartbreaking and I am eager to see justice served for this unconscionable act.”
