Californians who missed the stunning display of northern lights last night may get another opportunity to see the aurora on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
A geomagnetic storm, which is a “major disturbance in Earth’s magnetic field,” reached G4 levels on Tuesday, Nov. 12, according to the Space Weather Prediction Center. A G4 on the NOAA Space Weather Scales is associated with the northern lights being seen as far south as Northern California, and it’s considered a severe storm.

The geomagnetic storm activity continues Wednesday.
“We may see a resurgence in activity later today into tonight as the final coronal mass ejection begins to affect our outer atmosphere,” said Mike Bettwy of the Space Weather Prediction Center in an email to the Desert Sun
