A brief pursuit along I-59 ended in a crash Wednesday afternoon after a driver sped away from deputies during a traffic stop, according to officials with Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said the chase began around West Montgomery Road after a deputy pulled over a man for a traffic violation.
The driver reportedly did not have his license with him but provided his information to the deputy, who returned to his patrol car to verify it.
As the deputy was checking the details, officials said, the 26-year-old man suddenly sped off, prompting a pursuit that lasted about seven minutes.
