The Bridgeport vegetarian restaurant, Bloodroo t, has announced that they are closing on Dec. 21 after being open for nearly five decades.

“This decision, though sad, is also necessary given many factors in our lives at this time,” said Bloodroot in a recent Facebook post.

The restaurant will remain open during their regular business hours until the closing date.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday: closed

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Saturday: 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Bloodroot is known as a feminist restaurant and bookstore, and they are recognized for their regularly changing menu filled with ethnically diverse vegan and vegetarian cooking, according to Bloodroot's website.
