MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Ouachita Industrialization Center signed on the purchase of the former MLK Junior High School off Nutland Road on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

The Monroe non-profit organization gives students a chance to further their education past high school. OIC board chairman Jamie Mayo said the new building will help them expand and offer more learning opportunities for the community.

They will offer programs for students to learn about skills like HVAC, carpentry, electrical, and culinary arts.

Mayo said the next steps are to clean and set up the new classrooms.

The board plans to transition to the site in the Spring of 2026.
