MACON, Ga. — Three Bibb County schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after gunfire was reported near the schools, according to a report from Bibb County Schools.

The report said that Central High, Miller Middle and Vineville Academy of the Arts were placed on a brief "precautionary" lockdown after gunshots were reported in a neighborhood near the school.

"During a precautionary lockdown, instruction continues inside while outdoor activity is put on hold," per the report.

The three schools resumed normal operations after the area was declared safe by campus police, according to the report.

The report says parents were notified via the ParentSquare communication app.
