Concern from a Rensselaer County father led police to arrest a 35-year-old man accused of sending his daughter sexually explicit messages, police said.
William Branion, of East Greenbush, was charged with disseminating indecent material to a minor and endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation that began Wednesday, Nov. 5, Rensselaer City Police said.
Following a report from the girl’s father, detectives concluded that Branion sent inappropriate messages to the girl across several social media platforms, police said. The agency added that Branion is known to the victim’s family.
Branion was arraigned in Rensselaer City Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail on $50,000 cash or secured bond, then released after posting bail.
Investigators asked anyone whose child may have had contact with Branion to contact the Rensselaer Police Department at 518-462-7451.
