POTSDAM, New York (WWNY) - A mid-season showdown between Clarkson and St. Lawrence University drew one of the biggest crowds of the year as children from across the county filled the stands.

Most kids at Cheel Area on Wednesday afternoon would tell you it beats any day in the classroom.

“Just happy to be here with my classmates, watching hockey,” said Kyle White, a 7th grader at Colton-Pierrepont Central School.

Clarkson and St. Lawrence’s Division 1 women’s hockey teams faced off in their 3rd annual kids game.

It’s an event that brings roughly 3,000 kids from around the county to cheer on their favorite team, not using their indoor voices.

Madrid-Waddington Central School District brought all its elementary students to the game.
