To mark Remembrance Day 2025, a lone pine grown from seeds of the original Gallipoli tree has been planted at Ocean Reef Marina.
The pine tree was donated by Joondalup City RSL president Rick Green, and will now serve as a focal point for reflection at the new marina, near the new Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club facility and Anzac Memorial Arch.
Lone pines are grown from seeds that come directly from the tree at Gallipoli, where Australian soldiers fought in 1915 against Turkish forces.
During the Gallipoli campaign in 1915 during World War I, 8709 Australian soldiers were killed and more than 18,000 were wounded.
Since the end of the war, seedlings descended from the original lone pine have been planted across Australia as living memorials to those who served.
