VALLEY SPRINGS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A small plane made an emergency landing in a harvested field near the South Dakota-Minnesota border on Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities were called out to 488th Avenue and 265th Street near Valley Springs around 12:30 p.m. after air traffic control lost contact with the pilot.
According to the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, the pilot was flying from Red Wing, Minnesota, to Tea and ran out of fuel.
The single-occupant plane touched down safely, avoiding what could have been a serious accident.
