FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) -- Fayetteville Police are investigating after skeletal remains were found Wednesday.

Officers responded about 1:30 p.m. to a wooded area along the 500 block of S. King Street and found the remains.

FPD said it appeared the remains had been there for quite some time. The Fayetteville Police Department's Homicide Unit was called and was working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh to identify the remains and determine the cause and manner of death.
